Well, this weekend proved to be quite interesting. A little bit of a different sort of wetness than I'm used to; not quite the tail I'd been hoping to get, and a little inconvenient, but not bad, overall.

I would like to, however, address this ridiculous essay business now. The first one was easily ignorable and if you want to submit yourselves to that sort of risk and thinking it is no concern of mine.

But this? It is a MOCKERY! Write about pain? Perhaps if you do not meet their 'expectations' they will cause you pain. Perhaps even if you do. My suggestion is that this is one you err very cautiously if you decide to participate in it. Although maybe I should try. I might even hand in a little something to test the waters, so to speak. If you find yourself needing assistance, I will be glad to give it to you. Just contact me.

Pain is something that you make happen to other people. To inflict pain is a way of asserting that you will not be stopped. Pain is used as a tool all over. Pain can be used to stop someone else from causing pain to a third party. Or from yourself. Pain is defense, pain is offense. Pain lets someone know when they have crossed the line, and gives them the knowledge to know that they should never do it again, lest you give them more pain. Pain is power. Pain is not something I experience.

[OoC: He was a hammerhead shark. 8B Not that you'd really be able to tell; his upper half was the same, but how could I not? Link IC. Strikes not there. Edit: I edited the entry a little; I'm not trying to get out of any hard questions or interactions, I swear! I just was thinking on it today and I hated how it came out. D: My apologies.]

OH SUCH A SOMEONE YOU ARE!

Why be using only pain? Just one word! What of AGONY SUFFERING

TORMENT TORTURE.... IT GOES ON!

Such a 'someone'?

And that is the word you- well, one of you- chose for us to write about, so I decided that it would be best to emphasize the point.

Yes~ is there an echoooo?

HOW CAN YOU NOT EXPERIENCE PAIN?

[DIETY FILTER]

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I've been doing it righ- no, that sounds like a challenge. That's the last thing that I want to do to one of them. Just luck- I'm too awesom-

It was a figure of speech. To make the writing better.

What kind of a figure form mode of speech? HMMMMMM?

Perhaps I'll just let you figure it out, hmm? Makes the writing more mysterious.

A different sort of wet--

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Never mind. I don't want to know.

S-Sob, I added another awful joke. D8

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I'm used to it raining in the City.

Oh, you!

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
And getting a different kind of tail too, right?

Oh, me, indeed. But my mind enjoys the gutter.

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I had been considering helping you out by taking in one of your animals. True, at least. This ticking is driving me- no. Calm down. Control yourself.

Is your suggestion based on fear?

Fear of pain?

U HOR

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
If anything, fear of allowing innocent citizen to come to harm.

But this has nothing to do with fear.
bequiet_hescreamed: I'd hug you, but you might hurt yourself on all my pointy bits. (& Umi)

Children must make their own mistakes sometimes.

Everything has everything to do with fear. I think that would make a much better topic for an essay.

I know you too well. :|

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Not when the hot stove of learning they are about to touch is the deities.

Well, perhaps that shall be the next essay.

Fear of not having enough?

There's an interesting thought. Are you operating under the assumption that without pain there can be no pleasure, or...?

/cradles your paystub

[identity profile] caughtthebullet.livejournal.com 2010-06-17 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Fear lessens when another element compensates the lack of balance. It could be pleasure, it could be security.

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
My suggestion is based on experience and intuition.

[identity profile] caughtthebullet.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
And what are your experiences, Captain?

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Cleaning up the scum of the fine city of Los Angeles. I have dealt with villainy like this before; they like to make you think that they're helping you out, they offer deals, they're polite, charming. And then, when you start to trust them, think that they're not all bad- POW!

They get you. I've seen many fall to that method. The Engineer that Could, El Salvador Dhali, the Frenzied Friar although, to be fair, he was always a little on the fence of sanity anyway.

[identity profile] hidesinrestroom.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone likes a little bit of pain, Captain...

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you'll find that to be quite untrue.

[identity profile] hidesinrestroom.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Whether it's inflicted upon oneself or another, everyone likes it.

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
. . . . . . . . . . . . Compelling argument. And what of Penny?

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
She doesn't enjoy it. I know that for a fact.

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-20 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Still, my point stands. [SO counting this as a win. :Dv]

[identity profile] disregard-death.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Keats is impressed that Hammer is able to continually be this upbeat. Actually he can't help but find it a little charming.]

I think everyone's takin this project a might too seriously.

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
[IF ONLY HE KNEW. He hates this City with a loathing herefore not experienced.]

That is presumably due to the fact we were supposedly promised a way out of a curse. Heavy stakes in this place.
