amansgottadowhat: (But mine is the Hammer!)

[He is standing proudly in front of the camera as he does nearly every time he makes a post. He does look a little less arrogant today, but still full of pride.]

Citizens, I feel that it has been some time since the infestation of the harpies, and yet there is still a lingering threat in the air. It may just be another of their curses, but I am feeling a bit different today. I would not claim to not feel myself, because I am now, and always will be me. Captain Hammer. Superhero.

[As he continues on, a fly buzzes lazily near the top of the video feed, and even it looks bored and unimpressed.]

However, I feel a general uneasiness. I feel it getting closer and closer, until it's so close that I could grab it. [At the word, he snatches the fly from the air. He grins into the camera dramatically, but then he looks down at the floor and nearly jumps back.]

What are you? [He remembers himself for a moment and straightens up.] And what are you doing in my house!? [He reaches over, his eyes betraying his disgust, and turns off the video.]

[She strides up to Mr. Hammer rather casually.]

Excuse me sir, but I think you have something of mine.

[He turned his head towards the door, a fly-swatter now in hand, advancing on a creature that he doesn't realize that she can't see. He must have forgotten to lock it due to whatever curse this was.

Oh, wait. He never needed to lock his door, because no one would ever dare to attack him.]

Hello. If you'll just give me a moment to vanquish this foe, I'll be right with you.

[Annie looks about the room. She certainly doesn't see anyone, but who was she to intervene?

Wait. Is that a flyswatter the man holds in his hand?]

Is it perhaps a large spider?

[She doesn't see it?] That might be one way to describe it, yes. You can see it, can you not?

[She doesn't quite know what to say. It's not as if she misses the psychopomps, but she wouldn't want to force this on anyone else.]

Well sir, I cannot.

I was directed here to see you when I was able to move into my apartment by carrying all of my furniture in by myself. At once. And skipped up the stairs.

[Her face is blank. She takes no joy in relaying this story. Having this kind of strength... perturbs her?]

[He can't wrap his mind around this, and that's just making him angrier. He's still going to smash the thing, in the end, but her second statement intrigues him.]

Ah, you also possess super-strength? Who was it that told you to seek me out?

Date: 2011-05-17 10:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antimonycarver.livejournal.com
Not until Sunday did I have any strength to speak of, sir.

And the superintendent of my building told me to look for you. He said that if it had to do with super strength and a sudden feeling of self-importance to talk to you.

*chokes* Ahahaha, that's awesome.

I see. So this is some sort of powers curse. I had been feeling a little less super today- [Realization hits.]

And if I may ask, what is it that you can do, miss . . . ?

My mother was a court medium, and I'm slated to take her spot.

What does that entail, exactly?

I have an "empathy with etheric beings," as it was explained to me once. A mediator between the spirit world and this world; which often entails interacting with the guides of the afterlife.

[Geek language, does not translate well. He catches two words pretty clearly, though.] So, since I have that magic thingy now, I try and interfere with death?

[That sounded kind of cool, actually. Not like he didn't do that on a regular basis anyway, though. Ahaha!]

Ah. No. If you chose to, you could guide souls to the afterlife with the help of the guides that you see. Like Ketrak, the spider, you see there.

Ketrak. [Why does it have a name, why? This is starting to remind him of the time he had to deal with Man Tis.

He had not been an exceptionally clever adversary.]
However, in a City where none die, there really isn't anything for me to do with them, then. [He begins to raise the flyswatter again.]

I do not think that that would be wise. They have purposes -- if not here, than elsewhere. And I do not think the flyswatter would do the trick.

Just. Let them do their part, and they'll leave you alone.

[She looks in the direction that she assumes Ketrak to be. She can feel a bit of disgust rising in her throat, but she manages to keep face. She looks back at the man. He has a large presence. And she pities him for that.]

[ooc; sorry annie is so humourless. ;____;]

I see. So it does leave eventually?

[OoC: I'm sorry that Hammer's such a dick! Annie's great.]

From: [identity profile] antimonycarver.livejournal.com
Yes it will leave. And so will your powers I hope -- for me and for the rest of the world.

[ooc; PFFT if he weren't a dick I'd be disappointed.]

It's watching me. Ah, but that's right! Are you having any trouble adjusting to your newfound strength? Aside from the moving in.

[OoC: I love Annie's blunt way of approaching things. Also, the most recent page of GK? I was just reading the Discworld book about golems, and in the last panel, there's Hebrew! Emet, meaning Truth.]

[She looks down at her tiny frame.]

Not particularly. It's a rather simple power, isn't it? I mean, super-strength is practically a staple; almost a pre-requisite for other powers.

From: [identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com
Simple. [He doesn't like that, not at all. He's getting more distrustful of her as this conversation goes on.] What was your name, again?

I am Captain Hammer. It's a pleasure to meet you, Antimony. That's quite an unusual name.
